STUDENT NEWS

CONGRATULATIONS to the BCHS Speech and Debate team who excelled at last weekend’s league tournament at Modesto High!  Ajatis Weddles placed 2nd in J.V. Congress and Sierra Pastor swept 1st place in J.V. Original Oratory.   as did Genovieve Ornales and Sho-Sho Johnson in J.V. Parlimentary Debate.  Placing in their very first tournament were Alana Guyton; 1st place in J.V. Dramatic Interp, Arianna Mallery; 1st place in Original Advocacy and Jaan Jaime; 2nd in J.V. Impromptu.  Varsity members Lauren Oaks and Alisa Aistrup took 2nd in Duo Interp and Eyan Atad took 2nd in Thematic Intperpretation.  GREAT JOB TEAM!  We’re so proud you SPEAK FOR THE CREEK!! Attention All Bear Creek Students: Through the Delta College Dual Enrollment, we will offer Child & Adolescent Development at Bear Creek for Fall 2018.  Completing the class will give you college credits, academic rigor, and college enrichment.  The class will be held after school on Tuesday and Thursday, 2:30-4 pm at Bear Creek.  If you are interested, please stop by the Counseling Office to sign up. Congratulations to the following students for their achievements at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Chicago, Illinois: Leilany Perez, Honorable Mention in Review Writing; Lilly Lim, Honorable Mention in Literary Magazine Photography; Alisa Aistrup, Superior Medal in Literary Magazine Poetry; Jasmin Prasad, Honorable Mention in Editorial Writing; Gabriella Backus, Superior Medal in Editorial Cartooning; and Amara Del Prato, Honorable Mention in Feature Writing. Also, congratulations to The Bruin Voice for earning a 10th place Best of Show in the Broadsheet Newspaper category.  You make the Creek proud!!! (15,16)

Attention all Bear Creek students, I am sure you are all aware of the Camp Fire in Paradise and the surrounding areas. As you know it is the Holiday season and many families have lost their homes. As support to them we will be collecting donations of shoes, clothes of all types, toys, books, and non perishable food. Please bring all donations to Mrs. Graham's room in E3. If you have any questions see Mrs. Graham. (16,19,20,21,22)

Need something to do on your Friday Night? Do you like to laugh? Come to Bear Creek Comedy's first game of the year TODAY, Friday, November 16th in the theater. $5 to get in. See you there! (16)

JUNIOR AND SENIOR NEWS

Seniors - It is time to vote. The Senior Choice Form has been sent to your school email address. Please make sure to cast your ballot for the seniors who best fit the categories. Seniors, you have to have more spirit than this! Only 114 of you have voted for the Senior Choice categories. There needs to be a majority of the votes cast for the ballots to count. Let's see if we can get everyone to vote! Voting closes Nov 16 at 2:10. (13,14,15,16)

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER NEWS

Sophomores- CIP YOUnited will be offering their second session Friday, Nov 30th. Please sign up with Mrs. Ochoa in the College & Career Center.

CLUB NEWS

Attention B.C. students and staff:  F.O.R. Club says it is that time of the year to show that special someone in your life how thankful you are to have them by purchasing a Thanksgiving Gram.  Grams will be on sale in the quad during both lunches today and tomorrow. Cost is $3 and each card contains art work from our very own Bear Creek artists.  Stop by and choose the color and design you like the most.  Then swing by room B-6 after school on Monday to pick them up and collect a sweet surprise! (15,16)

Calling all art club members! There will be a meeting Monday after school. We all know the struggle of drawing hands, so come and participate in Art Club's body proportion tutorial. (16,19)

Red Cross Meeting at 2:20 in Room A15 Tuesday the 20th! Please be sure to attend to sign up for our next events. (16,19,20)

ATHLETIC NEWS

All girls interested in trying out for softball , there will be the 1st  mandatory informational meeting Thursday November 15th at 2:20p to 2:45p in room A9. See you there. -Coach Kirk (14,15,16)
