STUDENT NEWS

WHAT WILL YOU DISCOVER TODAY?!  You are cordially invited to attend the Bear Creek Library Open House beginning now through the end of the quarter!  Over 200 brand new current and up to date nonfiction books, which many come with eBook access, are on display and ready for you to check out with your ID card!  Come see for yourself, there’s something for everyone! (14, 17, 18)

The PSAT exam will be held at Bear Creek on Wednesday, October 24.  Sign up early – we have a limited number of spaces.  Exam fee is $16; cash or check payable to Bear Creek High School.  Sign up at lunchtime or after school in the counseling office. 

The student store will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. (14, 17-21)

PE Absence Makeups will be held after school on the track at 2:15 Monday through Friday.

Cornerstone Yearbook will have a price change soon. Make sure to purchase your yearbook before break and the reduced price. $60 for the basic and $70 for the special. Bring Money to B-1 or purchase online at yearbookordercenter.com. You can also purchase your Senior Reflections online or in B-1. (17,18,19)

Attention All Seniors; FAFSA, Dream Act, Chafee, and CSU/UC Applications open up Oct 1st. This is the time to get your application started/completed. Also take time to search for scholarships on Naviance and apply, apply, apply. Please see Mrs. Ochoa in the College & Career Center for more information.  (18,19,21,24,26)

JUNIOR AND SENIOR NEWS

Powder Puff liability forms for all Seniors are due on Friday, Sept. 28. You can find the liability forms in D1. Turn in your liability forms to Emilio Gonzalez or to D1 (17,18,19,20,21)

Attention Juniors!!! Our first WINTERFEST meeting is this Friday, September 21st in D7 (Ms. Klinker's room) at 2:30! Come by if you want to dance with us at Winterfest Rally in January! (18,19,20,21)

CLUB NEWS

Club Photo Day is October 17. The Club Information form will be sent to all advisers. Please fill it out and get it back to B-1 by September 25 to have your club on the photo list. All clubs photographed must be approved by student government. (17,18,19)

Has math class got you going in circles? Math Club will help straighten you out! Join us in room A23 every Monday at 2:30. 

Red Cross meeting in room A15 on Tuesday the 18th! We will be signing up for a new event, so be there! We will begin at 2:20pm. 

CONGRATULATIONS to the BC Speech and Debate team members who excelled at last weekend’s league tournament at Lodi High!  Our Italian Exchange student, Beatrice DellaVia took 2nd place in JV Original Prose and Poetry while Team-mate Kilee Malone also took 2nd in JV humorous Interpretation.  New comers Shodonkeh Johnson and Caden Gilbert swept JV Extemporaneous placing 2nd and 1st respectively!   Duo Interp partners Lauren Oaks and Alissa Aostrup took home an   impressive 1st place in JV.  In Varsity, Jayden Reyes and Adia Nelson tied for 3rd in Dramatic Interp., Bailey Kirkeby took 2nd in Original Advocacy and Amrit “too-tall” Mahal took home 1st place gold in Humorous interp!  GREAT JOB TEAM!  We’re so proud you SPEAK FOR THE CREEK!!

ATHLETIC NEWS

Today the Bear Creek Ladies Tennis team will take on Stagg at 3:30 in their first home game of the season. Please come out and support them! Go Bruins!
