Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance.
Title IX applies, with a few specific exceptions, to all aspects of federally funded education programs or activities, including all of the operations of educational institutions that receive Federal financial assistance, as well as any education or training programs operated by any other recipient of Federal financial assistance.
Nondiscrimination and Equivalent Opportunities in the Athletic Programs
The Lodi Unified School District is committed to equal opportunity for all individuals in education and employment. The District prohibits unlawful discrimination, including discriminatory harassment, intimidation, and bullying, of any student by anyone, based on the student’s actual or perceived race; color; ancestry; nationality; national origin; immigration status; ethnic group identification; ethnicity; age; religion; pregnancy, childbirth, termination of pregnancy or lactation, including related medical conditions or recovery; parental, marital, family status; physical or mental disability; medical condition; sex; sex stereotypes; sex characteristics; sexual orientation; gender; gender identity; gender expression; or genetic information; or, association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
The District’s athletic program shall be free from discrimination and discriminatory practices in accordance with state and federal law. The Superintendent or designee shall insure that equivalent opportunities are provided for both genders. Any complaint regarding the district’s athletic program shall be filed in accordance with Board Policy 5145.7 - Sex Discrimination & Sex-Based Harassment.
No student shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, be denied equivalent opportunity in, or otherwise be discriminated against in interscholastic, intramural, or club activities on the basis of actual or perceived sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnic group identification, race, ancestry, national origin, religion, color, mental or physical disability or any other basis specified by law.
