CONGRATULATIONS to the Bear Creek Speech and Debate team members who qualified to the State tournament this past weekend!  ALL TAKING 1ST PLACE IN THEIR EVENTS are Casy Faamusili in Humorous Interp, Gian Baldonado in Thematic Interp and Richard Emiko in Original Oratory!  Also qualified are Bailey Kirkby and Jasmine Prasad in Policy Debate (tied for 2nd) and Jasmine Prasad double qualified in International Extemporaneous speaking also!  Finalists include Richard Emiko and Khaled Alameldin in Parliamentary debate (1st alternate), Casey Faamusili and Liz Malone in Duo Interp and Rebecca Whaland in Humorous Interp.!  GREAT JOB TEAM and good luck at the upcoming National Qualifiers at Lodi High and Delta Charter the first and last weekend of break.  We’re so proud you SPEAK FOR THE CREEK!


An SAT TEST PREPARATION WORKSHOP IS BEING OFFERED AT BEAR CREEK ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19 AND THURSDAY, APRIL 20  2:30 – 5:00 P.M. This 5-hour workshop covers the new, revised SAT and includes study guides and take-home materials. The cost is $99.99 per student but Bear Creek’s After School Program has offered to pay for the first 30 students who sign up and register for the May/June SAT. This is a fantastic offer so don’t delay; come to the career center during lunch or after school to sign up. 


Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest provides students with the opportunity to tell the community how much their teachers are appreciated.

Students write an essay, poem or thank you letter explaining how a teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire them.  Entries should be 500 words or less, typed on white paper.  Entries are due to Barnes & Noble by March 1.

The student that writes the winning entry will receive a certificate of recognition an be recognized at their local store.  The national student winner will receive $500 gift certificate and a NOOK.

The winning teacher could receive a $500 gift card.

The Barnes & Noble National Teacher of the year award will receive $5000.


Summer School applications will be available in the counseling office starting Monday, Feb. 6 after school.  This year summer school will be at McNair HS. For more information please pick up a flyer starting Monday. If you have any questions please contact the counseling office.
